Little Si

Wow, I haven't been hiking since June! So much has been going on. I have been looking for a house, packing, and moving. Jaymie and Leila moved in with me. Let's not forget painting, fencing, building a shed, unpacking, etc. etc. etc. I may not have hiked, but I have been busy. Still far from done, but I wanted to get back to my hobby.

Leila has done some short hikes to waterfalls before but has never been to the top of a mountain. I promised her we would climb Little Si. You can see it from our new house. I did not tell her until we were near the top that it was a much higher elevation gain than she had done before and it was 2 miles farther than any hike she had done. I figured it would psych her out to tell her before hand.

The hike went well. She needed to stop 3 or 4 times on the way up. Little Si is steep at the very beginning and at the very end, but mostly flat in the middle. It is a good hike to take a kid on, although there are some rocks that are harder to navigate with small legs. When we reached the summit, Leila was really excited to have climbed her first mountain.

On the way back I only heard how sick of hiking she was a couple times. (I am 38 and I think that myself from time to time, just ask Cathy.) Back at the car she was looking forward to hiking again next weekend. Next weekend is Rattlesnake Ledge!
